Triple zero roulette, also sometimes known as “000 roulette”, is a version of the popular casino game roulette which features an extra slot on the wheel marked with “000”, in addition to the traditional “0” and “00” slots found on an American roulette wheel. This effectively makes it a 39-slot wheel, increasing the house edge.
In a standard American roulette wheel, there are 38 slots: numbers 1 to 36, plus a “0” and a “00”. The house edge (the advantage the casino has over the player) is 5.26% because when you bet on a single number, your odds of winning are 1/38, but the payout is 35 to 1.
When a third zero is added, making a triple zero roulette, the house edge increases even further. The odds of winning a single-number bet are now 1/39, but the payout remains 35 to 1. This increase in the house edge makes triple zero roulette a less favorable game for players compared to the more traditional versions of roulette.
There had been some reports of triple zero roulette becoming more common in casinos, particularly in Las Vegas. This trend can be attributed to the increased house edge that triple zero roulette provides for the casino, making it more profitable for them. However, the increased house edge also makes the game less favorable for players, which has led to some criticism.
Casino games often evolve and change based on various factors, including player demand, casino profitability, and even regulatory changes. If triple zero roulette continues to provide increased profitability for casinos without significantly reducing player demand, it’s possible that it may continue to become more common.
